As our second year at BGM Family Lawyers draws to a close, I pause to look back on it and forward to the new year coming.
It is fair to say that after our first full year running a law firm, we are tired. We knew we were taking on a 7 day a week project but at times this year, the business has run me and not the other way around. I have made a conscious effort over the last 4 weeks to wrestle my weekend time back. We are looking forward to a break over the Christmas season.
I am still not as skilled as I would like to be with social media and technology in general. I have to ask my colleagues how to upload our BGM cartoons and I always forget to include a witty hashtag. Given I don’t know how to delete a post, I am stuck with my first attempt. A work in progress for next year.
I am grateful for the relationships I have forged and fostered and the people who have supported BGM since we made what was, for 3 conservative people, a gigantic leap. Thank you for each and every one of you.
I love the team we have built around us. It seems like a lifetime ago that it was 3 of us in a room no bigger than a matchbox with 3 laptops and a step so I could reach the printer. To now have systems and support around us every day means a lot to us.
I am so grateful to my family for their unwavering support. To my husband, who has taken over the reins at home and is always happy to take on the jobs we need done at BGM, no questions asked. My boys are so used to me working at home that they are well trained at “Mum is on the phone, so can you please be quiet and nice to each other for 5 minutes.” I am confident, though, that they enjoy having my presence at home more than I was able to manage before BGM days.
I am proud of the achievements of our little business and each of us. I will never become complacent and know that there is more hard work to come. Thank you to Dan and Orlena for taking the leap with me and I look forward to what 2019 will bring.
